THOMAS SCHEIBE Thomas Scheibe studied trumpet under Prof. Bernd Hengst at the Carl-Maria von Weber Music Conservatory in Dresden, Germany. Scheibe won his job as Principal Flugelhornist of the Sächsisches Bläserphilharmonie while still a student at the conservatory. In addition to his position in the Sächsisches Bläserphilharmonie, Scheibe is an active subsitute/extra player in many German orchestras. He is also a founding member of the Leipzig Bigband after taking part in conducting courses with Jochen Wehner, Scheibe began his studies as a conductor under Prof. Jan Cober at the Maastricht Conservatory in The Netherlands, finishing in 2009 with a concert conducting the Sächsischen Bläserphilharmonie. Apart from his orchestral work, Scheibe conducts various wind bands and youth ensembles in Leipzig, and was named Assistant Conductor of the Akademischen Orchester Leipzig in 2007. In 2011 he was named Chief Conductor of the Landesjugend blasorchester in Saxony. His experience as a music educator began in 1995, when he was named Lecturer in the German Windband Academy. He has also acted as lecturer in the Southeast Asia Brass and Woodwind Workshop in Malaysia.
